Sustainability in flooring is more than just a trend — it’s a responsibility that starts with how materials are sourced and ends with how products are made and used. At Xylon, we believe an eco-friendly floor must meet high standards across its entire life cycle: responsible forestry, efficient production, low emissions and lasting performance.
Our commitment begins in the forest. All of our wood is sourced from responsibly managed, FSC and PEFC certified forests. For every tree we cut, we plant a new one — a one-for-one approach that helps preserve biodiversity and maintain forest health. By choosing local European-grown species like oak, ash and beech, we keep our transport emissions low while supporting local ecosystems.
Durability plays a major role in reducing environmental impact. A long-lasting floor means fewer replacements and less waste. That’s why our solid wood floors are built to perform for decades, combining structural stability with timeless aesthetics. This kind of longevity is one of the most effective ways to lower a product’s overall footprint.
But sustainability doesn’t stop at the surface. Many flooring products on the market still rely on finishes and adhesives that emit harmful chemicals into the air. At Xylon, we use water based oils and UV-cured lacquers that are low in VOCs, safe for indoor environments and remarkably durable. It’s a finish that protects your floor and your health.
We’ve also taken major steps to reduce our impact during production. Our facilities are equipped with underground oil and biological separator systems to ensure clean and safe waste management. We’ve achieved a 90% decrease in energy costs through improved efficiency and cleaner technologies. And we utilise 95% of raw materials, leaving very little to waste.
At Xylon, sustainability isn’t an afterthought — it’s built into everything we do. From reforestation to energy-saving systems, from safe finishes to long-lasting design, we’re committed to creating floors that are as responsible as they are beautiful.
